You keep reading horror stories about hand held vacuums. Not enough suction, weak construction, crappy batteries. It took me three weeks to pick something I could live with. I don’t think I made the wrong choice. Sure, you get what you pay for. It doesn’t have the sucking power of an Electrolux Silverado. But it does exactly what I intended it for. It sucks up flying bugs inside the house, which I can release back into the wild. Moths, spiders... Spider webs... Dusting book shelves... I’m very happy with it. PS... slight glitch. Just got off the phone with Black & Decker’s parts service. Replacement filter HNVCF10 for this new model won’t be available for at least a month, or even longer. How & why B&D would start selling a new product without the one component needing frequent changing ready to go is bizarre, but there you have it. Guess I’ll be washing this filter very carefully... PS2: Formal written reply from B&D “That is correct, this is a new product and the filter is not available to purchase at this time. We would suggest you check back with us in a few weeks and you can place an order at that time. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.” Fascinating.
The on/off button needs to be held down for this model of dustbuster to stay on.This answer from Stanley is not true:Question: Does Black and Decker make a handheld Dustbuster that will stay on without holding the button on constantly?Answer: All of the Dustbusters have an on / off switch. The button does not have to be held down.By Stanley Black & Decker MANUFACTURER on March 11, 2019That said, the unit does suck (in the good way).
Seriously the least powerful vacuum on earth. You'd be better off running a paper towel over the same area you want to vacuum.

Judging from other reviews, this seemed nearly perfect: a lightweight handheld vacuum with great suction and good design. In practice, this is extremely flawed for two reasons.First, the brush attachment included is very thin and only goes around 3 out of 4 sides on the wand, defeating the purpose of a brush attachment.Second (and much more important), this thing is deafeningly loud. A few reviews have mentioned it's high pitched and whiny, which it is, but no one has mentioned that it's over the threshold of pain. I measured it and it peaks at around 93-95 decibels (measured at the ear). It hurts to just turn this on, and it's not comfortable to use without hearing protection. All vacuums are loud, but this is completely unacceptable. It's possible this unit is just defective, and I'm considering exchanging it to try again. Will update this review if I do.
Initially, I scoffed at the idea of spending $100 on a souped-up dustbuster, but as long as this unit lasts, it is worth it. I love the fact that this is super light and has excellent suction. I love the attachments. I love the super easy charging station, and that it only needs 2.5 hours to fully charge. I love the easy dump one button dirt canister. This hand vac literally has many many uses around the house. You can use it vacuum up your pet's hair balls on hard surfaces. You can use it on kitchen tables, chairs, or countertops. You can use it to remove dirt and dust from a computer keyboard. You can use it to clean baseboards and molding. You can use it to suck up spider webs from walls and crevices. You can use it to keep your car clean. You can use it on stairs. You can use it to keep sofas and upholstery clean, including behind couch cushions. You can use it to vacuum up all kinds of bugs or 'thousand leggers' that might be crawling across your floors or walls. You can use it on window sills. You can use it in corners or areas where a conventional full sized vacuum cleaner can't get to. You can use it to pick up hair if you get home haircuts. You can vacuum dust off of electronics or media stands. You can vacuum inside drawers. You can remove and get dust off of hanging picture frames on walls. You can use it to clean excess lint on top of your dryer or inside the lint chute. You can vacuum dust off of blinds and shades. You can vacuum around your refrigerator base. I can go on and on. The possibilities are endless! This miracle, sleek vacuum device is a GODSEND and a GAME CHANGER!
Sob! I was really hoping this would be the portable vacuum cleaner that would do what I needed. But its battery gave out after only ten minutes and I had lots left to do in my Highlander after this weekend's visit by the grandkids. This is a nice machine if you only need it for quick pickups of , say, less than eight minutes. (I don't recall any reviews mentioning this, but I DO SO HERE!)I might have kept this myself for those easy jobs if the product cost less than fifty bucks. But for an out-of-pocket $110 plus, I'll just have to keep on looking.

I like the long extendable pickup and overall sucking power. Not a big fan of the counter-top charge base (I would have preferred a wall mount). But after 3.5 years of light-duty use (under five minutes run time each week) my CHV1410L vacuum's battery died. Unfortunately the battery is NOT a user-replaceable item. That's a shame because the vacuum still looks new. And it would be wasteful to toss it in the trash just because Black & Decker didn't design this appliance so we could change the battery pack. For this reason the vacuum only gets 3 stars from me.Fortunately I have many years experience working on electronic equipment. I have rebuilt a few lithium battery packs too. So I decided to replace my vacuum's batteries. This is not a project for the average person, so skip this idea if you are not familiar with lithium battery safety.I disassembled the vacuum by removing six screws. Once inside I found that the battery pack can be removed by unplugging a connector. As luck would have it, the battery pack's plastic case is held together by two plastic tabs that snap apart. Inside the case are four (4) 18650 size lithium batteries and the cell charge protection circuit board. The rebuilding process was straight forward. I used four 18650 high current flat top cells (rated 20A continuous operation). These type of cells are found in some high capacity vaping devices. While soldering the cells it is critical to avoid overheating them. I used a temperature controlled iron, added flux, and worked fast to minimize the heat dwell time. The cells I used are these: Odec 18650 Rechargeable Battery, 2600mAh 3.7V / 35A High Drain Battery Flat Top with Storage Box (4 Pack)I don't intend this review to be a battery rebuilding instructable. Instead, I'm here to say that the battery will probably last 3-4 years and then your vacuum will become another electronic landfill waste item. This problem isn't limited to this product, but such a shame that manufacturers don't do more to break us from modern society's throw-away habits.
Same issue as many other 1 star reviews. Some of the units' charger/battery seem to have major issues out of the gate. Mine lasted less than a week. After much arm twisting with the B&D rep, here is their official response after verifying the production date on my model:"We sell millions of these units per year and unfortunately, some did have charger issues. We have rectified it and sending replacements to customers that had the issue."Amazon -- you might want to make sure you're not sending out these defective units, and only those that have been "rectified."BLACK+DECKER CHV1410L 16V Cordless Lithium Hand VacHurts your rep if B&D isn't solving this directly with you, especially since it is an "Amazon Choice" product.
I have no idea how many B&D dustbusters we've thrown away in thirty years. My family never learns. Our latest (purchased November 2016) has a failing battery after less than a year and a half of light use. The charger is putting out the prescribed charge. The battery shows 15.3v. Turn it on and the whine gets rapidly lower pitched as it drops to 9 volts in 40 seconds and stops. Why are the reviews good? Is everyone just used to throwaway tools? It's not even like you could pop a new battery in. Junk.As a contractor who puts the date of purchase on every battery, I am here to tell you three to five years of constant use is what I'm getting from the quality batteries I buy. I won't mention brands because I think everyone knows what they are. Our next dustbuster is going to work with the18v lithium batteries I use in drills, impact drivers and circular saws.

This is a very powerful little vacuum, but it does have a few things that need to be improved. As other people have mentioned the vents are facing the sides which cause the wind to blow away the debris. This can be improved by making a cover that directs the air flow to the back of the vacuum. I used some brown paper bag to make my own, but you can use any material you like. Ideally this would be a 3D printed piece but that would cost too much. Wish they would fix this design issue in their next model.
Holy crap!! Are you skeptical when it comes to buying stuff online? ME TOO! That's why I figured all of these rave reviews were a crock of crap. I've seriously bought every kind of vacuum out there, including the Rumba, which is about as intelligent as a q-tip. But I have 4 cats and a Golden Retriever, so I was getting desperate! I believe the saying is… a picture is worth a thousand words. Check mine out! Of note - the "before" picture was taken of my dog's bed AFTER it went through the washer & dryer. Look at all of that left behind hair!!! And the "after" picture was taken after only THREE MINUTES spent vacuuming her bed. I. Am. SOLD! BTW, I've NEVER taken the time to review a product before, just FYI.
I purchased this based on the rave reviews from other buyers. I agree, it's phenomenal for removing pet hair. That's mainly due to the removable rubber attachment that "scrapes" hair away from surfaces. I never realized how much pet hair was lying around until I used this. However, I bought it thinking it would have many different uses in my home... I was wrong.I remember reading another buyer's question "is this just good for pet hair or does it work on other types of dirt, too?". I thought, what a silly question...It's a vacuum, of course it's good for "all dirt". I quickly found out that's not true. The vacuum has powerful exhaust blowers on each side of the unit. The manufacturer, in their infinite wisdom, decided to direct the blowers downward, which pushes lighter dirt away from the unit (blowing it everywhere, making messes and preventing it from being sucked up at all). So, this CANNOT be used as a DustBuster. Essentially, it's limited to pet hair cleanup. I was disappointed to uncover such a silly design flaw because it does have some great characteristics, such as being lightweight, having an ergonomic handle and having powerful suction. If you're looking for a pet hair miracle, this is for you. If you expect to also use it for other things, this is NOT for you.

This is my 2nd purchase of this particular mini vacuum. We recently moved into our kid's guest cottage and when my daughter saw how powerful and convenient this little guys is, she had to have it. So I ordered again. In 37 years of marriage and family life, we have certainly gone through a few Dirt Devils and Dust Busters over the years, and I can honestly say that this is by far the best hand-held vac we have ever owned. It is common for me to use it for 30 or 45 min at a time, and it has never slowed or faded in suction power. It is an easy grab for all the mis-haps that happen in a house with active children, and it is a convenient car vac. I especially love the thin nozzle for getting into hard to reach places. I also own the Mercedes of the high end full size vacuum cleaners, which I use once a week for my deep cleaning, but I use this little guy nearly everyday for maintaining and quick clean ups. I am particular about keeping my home and having all the right tools is important for helping me to meet the high standards I have for myself. This is one of my favorite tools and I highly recommend it to anyone with a full house household, with pets and for anyone who doesn't want to lug out the big guns for little clean ups.
My first Flex is 6 years old and the battery is about shot. I use it routinely. Nothing works better for cleaning up quickly and easily. I wouldn't expect to clean an entire house with it, but the new one that may be possible. It has stronger suction by far. Great for kitchen messes, especially, countertops and the floor, flour has met its match. My husband bought a Dyson handheld one. It doesn't have a small particle filter and it clogs easily. Plus without a hose, it has limited use in tight places. The best part of cleaning the refrigerator is using the flex to clean those nasty bits and crumbs that are in the drawers and at the bottom of the fridge. I have 2 dogs that shed like crazy and get on the couch and bed at every opportunity. This works great for cleaning pet hair off your favorite bedding. I don't want to lift an entire vacuum to clean above my head; I like to hold the vacuum in one hand and use the other to hold the cleaning end.
This little guy is amazing! It is smaller than it looks, and comparable in size to a "traditional" handheld vac. In terms of weight, it's actually lighter than many traditional handheld models. With the hose locked into position (like in the default product picture), it "drives" very nicely -- the center of gravity is basically right under the handle, so it maneuvers very easily without too much effort. I was worried about it being clunky or awkward at first based on its appearance, but it's actually the most maneuverable handheld vac I've ever used. With the hose detached from the handle, you can either hold the hose in one hand and the vacuum unit in the other; or, you can set the latter down next to you. Detaching the hose helps greatly with detail work, and also with cleaning in tight spaces (e.g. the car). The hose is 4 feet long and extremely flexible. The unit has a lithium ion battery, so it shouldn't experience power fade. It's very well powered, with strong suction. It won't best your upright vacuum, but it's more than adequate for vacuuming up dirt/dust/leaves/etc. in my car footwells, dirt and sand on the carpet, spilled dry foods in the kitchen, small pet food messes, etc. The crevice tool is great for cleaning in corners, baseboards, and other tight spots. This is one of the best home cleaning purchases I've ever made! I highly recommend it.UPDATE: 1.5 years in, and it's still going strong! Still every bit as great as the day I bought it. The suction is still very powerful. The filter rinses out easily in the sink, so there are no consumables to pay for. The battery still holds a great charge -- I've never run out of juice during use. Would recommend highly!!!

Unit is not charging correctly. LED charge light is not coming on. Called Black and Decker support and they will not help repair or replace the product. Product has a 3 year warranty, and the unit is only 3 months old.Terrible customer service department at Black and Decker.
Bought this vacuum for my car. I drive Lyft and Uber so heavy usage. So far the product works great! Did fairly extensive research and this vacuum delivered the most bang for its light weight buck! Best suction for its class. It sounds like a vacuum so I don't understand that complaint. I can carry it in an average size back pack. It has the extender and pet attachment attached so I don't have extra parts to f around with. I charge it over night (not sure about 3hr charging as advertised) after several uses and it lasts for several days of 5-10 minute uses. The first time you use it let it drain out completely and then charge it for 16 hours for faster future charges as they recommend. No charging light which for me is one less annoyance but I could see that being frustrating for some. When it shuts down you can keep turning it back on for a few more quick bursts of action to finish up before battery dies. I bought the 2 replacement filters so I wouldn't have to be frustrated later on. *Pro Tip: I use a dryer sheet to clean the filter. That way I don't have to wash the cloth filter and I think that will help extend it's life.
8/2018 - update - no longer holding any significant charge - have to go through warranty which is a nightmare - not recommended even as a giveaway - B&D has engineering standards that are strictly 3rd world - recommend Ryobi $24 shop hand held vac with 2 18v lithium batteries for so much less=================================================================================================This is the second B&D handheld I've bought this week the first being the HHVI320JR02 model which I would've given a "-5" (see my other review) because the battery life on it was horrible. This model on the other hand almost twice as expensive BUT significantly better. The good:-good suction at nozzle for what it's intended to pickup, and remains consistent throughout the work-nice sleek design and no tools to lose as the nozzle extension is built in along with a brush head-gets into tight places-it is very light and easy on your arms-this model has a charge indicator and a base that you place it in, albeit the base is less than stable-this model has a pre-filter which is plastic and significantly improves the quick cleanup that should go along with a dustbuster-charge time from box to dust is about 3hrs and 28 minutes timed on my stop watch-work time at full load before battery fade is approximately 12 minutes and an additional 3 useless minutes to safe shutdown (point where unit turns off so the battery does not drain completely) again on my stop watch-solid 2 year warranty and 30 days money back guaranteeThe bad:-unstable base needs to be placed somewhere that is not prone to being knocked over by kids/pets/etc.-unit construction is not heavy duty so any significant drop on a hard surface will definitely cause it to crack-battery is sealed and does not have an option for a battery swap so you can continue working (for example if you're vac'ing your SUV/truck)-16.2 AW (air watts) seem low for a 20V tool - 18 to 20 AW would be more consistent with other similar tools - bad engineering? high drain and low suction lots of wasted motor energyBottom line - probably one of the better B&D dustbusters and would definitely recommend you look at only 20V and above based on my own experience. On this initial use I would recommend it for quick cleanups (albeit it's a luxury item at over $60 for a small, 12 min vac) but need to spend a week with it to be convinced so I can see if the charge process and battery life stay consistent and within the same range.

If not for the filter design letting down the entire vacuum it would be a 5 star product. The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is because the *vacuum* itself is fantastic. The filter is terrible and ruins the entire vacuum. So as it sits, the vacuum is really just a lithium ion mess maker, until the filter design is redone. The filter only "seals" (or rather doesn't seal) against the walls of the dirt cup by plastic on plastic contact. The filters just have a slightly flexible plastic rim that is supposed to "friction fit" into the dirt cup. Unfortunately, this allows tons of dust to be sucked by the filter and get sucked into the motor and blown out around the top edges of the dirt cup. It will ruin the vacuum in no time and it isn't much of a vacuum if it just blows what you sucked up back out the top of the dirt cup and the back of the unit. With a simple redesign of the filter, this could all be solved and the vacuum would be amazing.Eufy, PLEASE, REDESIGN THE FILTER. It just needs to have a stiff plastic rim that fits tightly into the vacuum, plus it needs to have a small o-ring groove and an o-ring to make a right seal against the dirt cup. Much like the o-ring that holds the outer cover on. I know it's cheaper to make the filters out of just plastic without having to add an o-ring to them, but without it, this vacuum is a HUGE failure. This inexpensive plastic filter is letting down the entire vacuum. For this product to succeed, the filter must seal in some way. The current method just isn't sustainable. I will send an email in the next couple days with details and photos, but if you want to reach out to me before then, I'd be happy to work with you to help revise the filter design to fix the vacuum. If you don't revise the filter so it can seal better, you might as well mark these down to $6.99 now, because that's about all they're worth. Cheap enough to entice buyers, but not expensive enough for them to bother to return. However if Eufy isn't willing to revise the filter to make the product actually functional, I'll be returning it as well as revising this review accordingly.I get the impression that Eufy is a company that will work to improve their product, especially when it only involves changing one small disposable part, so I hope I'm not wrong on this. But for now, I can't recommend this to anyone, as it is right now. I do hope I can change this recommendation in the coming weeks, as I really like it, if it would seal.
**Update on my below review. One of the reasons I continue to buy Eufy products is their customer service. After my review they reached to me looking to resolve any issue. They provided a refund and requested I keep the vacuum. They said they will keep my feedback in mind on future product development. Can’t ask for more then that.**I’m a fan of Eufy products so when I saw this launch I wanted to give it a try. My main goal was to use it for small clean ups in my car. It’s a decent vacuum but has a big flaw. The motor fan is pointing downwards. So if you have an area you are trying to clean up it is basically blowing the mess away while you try to vacuum. A bit shocking this wasn’t realized in product testing. The power is also a bit lacklaster.I like the concept and quality feels good but I don’t see myself using it unfortunately.
I gave this one a chance (along with a Shark W1) due to the great price, but as the other reviews have pointed out, it is critically flawed. The exhaust blows downward, instead of out of the sides, so all of the dust and pet hair goes flying into the air. The suction diminishes along with the battery. This is going back and I am sticking with the Shark W1. The Shark is twice the price, but does everything I hoped this would. The Eufy provides the performance of a $25 dust buster at twice the price.

I have had a number of hand held vacuums and my older ones were always the best, and for ages no other was as good, until this Hoover ONEPWR. I purchased one back up battery, and I keep one on the charger so when the one being used is depleted I simply exchange them. The vacuum itself is a bit loud, but the suction is excellent and it's easy to empty. I like it so much I purchased a second unit with backup battery for another location. I would recommend this vacuum.
Best handheld ever. Charge last a long time, awesome suction and great looking. I purchased the shark pet perfect recently and it was a waste of money short battery life very weak and debris get stuck in the cup due to a design flaw. Then i got this hoover and it was everything i wanted and more. Long lasting powerful easy to clean and nice looking. If your looking for a handheld this is it
First, I will say I do love the detachable battery and the long run time. It will run for over 30 minutes, so it is excellent. Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends. This unit is big and bulky. With the battery, it also becomes heavy, and gets fatiguing in the hand when in use for over 5 minutes. The crevice tool design is poor as well. You have to detach it from the unit, and then insert it into the mouth of the unit, and then back to its home storage position after. This is clumsy, and I can see people easily loosing this tool. If you already have other Hoover ONEPWR devices in your house, then this would make much more sense to buy and use. If not, there are definitely better options out there for the money, especially the options from Black and Decker, which I ended up repairing myself and keeping, because it works so much better than this unit.

We bought this vac mostly because of its small size and low power consumption since we run it from a small inverter through our sailboat's battery bank so I was not prepared for the awesome suction power of this little unit. It comes with a lot of attachments, one of which is an upholstery head that really works well and comes in handy since we share our small living space with a dog and cat. It's easy to transition between wet and dry mode. This is an excellent unit that I heartily recommend, it's only drawbacks being a fairly small canister size which needs to be emptied frequently and a non standard dry filter size.
It's a nice vacuum. compact and good for what I purchased it for (cleaning cat hair out of my keyboard). But I've noticed the suction is a bit light, probably due to the large filter it uses for day to day non-wet use.Tub is easy to empty, hose is a bit flexy - in that it is one of those shrinking coil types and when vacuuming it tries to compress back to the 18" length. Usually not a problem, but fighting it while holding the canister in one hand and the nozzle in the other is extra work. Also, the blast of the exhaust is on one side of the canister blowing horizontal, with no way to direct the blast up or down. Using it the way I do, if I turn it on without thinking, papers fly off my desk or nearby shelves. For use in a garage, or in a car, it's a perfect little vacuum.
The size really fits for our needs for a vacuum. Using for fireplace clean-up, my yorkipoo's grooming hair and minor clean-up. Very easy to empty and clean. Plus not big and bulky. No filters which is one of the reasons we picked this vacuum. Would recommend.

All I can say is I just boxed it back up because it did nothing but leak from the minute we added the solution to the tank. And when I stored it and came back, all of the solution was leaked out all over everywhere! Great concept, great size, great everything, if only it didn't leak. : (
I just tried my new BISSELL, 20037 Pet Stain Eraser Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner, 2019 Version and was not impressed with its performance. For starters, there is a door covering the charging port that will "automatically slide out of the way when the charging adapter is inserted." This did not just slide out of the way. I had to stick in the plug and maneuver it around to slide the door away and jam the charger in the port. The biggest disappointment was how terrible the sprayer worked for the solution. It was bad at first then seemed to work ok for a moment. From everything I saw it looked like the solution would spray out in a fan shape, but I was only able to get a single stream of solution. When I tried to spray it again, it wouldn't even spray, it just seeped out and then down the front of the machine. I tried many different times to put the tank in hoping that would help and nothing did. I eventually put the solution into a separate spray bottle and just used that. The tank is also supposed to "click" when it is inserted and I could never make it click. I tried many different ways and it never clicked. I wondered if this may have been the reason for the bad spraying, but no matter the reason, it didn't work well at all.The suction seemed ok, especially for what I need, just quick spot cleaning. But it was such a mess to deal with I may return it. The only way I can see it working well would be to keep the cleaning solution in a separate spray bottle.I don't know what sort of small wet vac would be better, but I would look into other options. The nice thing about this unit (and what I was looking for) was that it was small and portable.
This is supposed to be a an updated model. Last year's model had major complaints with leaks. I am on my second unit in days and guess what, they both leak like crazy. The 2 - 8oz containers with formula provided with the unit, ran through the machine in a matter of minutes and of course all messy. And yes, made sure everything was seated properly, including the drain plug. Not to mention that it contains H2O2, so you need to remove it quickly plus it temporarily affects your skin.
We will be happy to hear your thoughts
