So... this Waterpik is amazing. By the way this is my first review ever on Amazon after ordering numerous of things. So I had 4mm and 5mm periodontal pockets from not flossing and also experienced some bone loss, I also had to get a very uncomfortable deep gum pocket cleaning. I literally hated flossing and would find myself avoiding to floss even though I needed it very much. My gums were red, swollen, and inflamed because I was in the early stages of periodontal disease. I started using the Waterpik flosser, and instantly like this way of flossing much better! After using it consecutively each night for only 5 days my gums were noticeably better and felt much better. After 2 weeks of using the Waterpik flossing, coconut oil pulling, and mouthwash treatment, my gums have done a complete 180 and my mouth and gums are starting to heal properly! Also this flosser can be somewhat loud, but definitely gets the job done ( but the dentist still recommends string flossing). Brought this with my own money and this is an honest testimonial/review. I will be back with an update on what mm my gum pockets will be!

Fifty-odd years ago when I was a kid, my parents bought WaterPiks for me and my two brothers. Over the years mine got lost during moves for school and work and, frankly, I'd forgotten about it. A couple years ago, I started having problems with sore/bleeding gums and--no matter how often I brushed--my mouth always felt like the bottom of a birdcage. Then, I remembered my childhood WaterPik. Just in time for one of Amazon's sales!I ordered the Aquarius model, and have used it twice-daily for a week. Guess what? No more bleeding gums! And after every use, my mouth feels like it was cleaned by a dental hygienist. Love, love, love this thing, and it's super easy to use! After reading numerous reviews here, I have to say that it makes a low, vibrating noise when in use but it's not loud (I have hyper-sensitive hearing and can't bear loud noises). If your unit gets moldy, it's because you didn't take 30 seconds to empty the tank and drain the line after each use. Try adding a couple ounces of mouthwash into the water tank when you use it and--just like you can your coffee maker--once in a while run some white vinegar thru the tank followed by two tanks of clear water. It's not rocket science. Those who reported it "leaking" from the bottom of the cleaning tip probably just didn't have it seated correctly. It has to snap into place on the wand, but if you aren't paying attention and press the "release" button on the wand instead of the "on" button to start the water flowing then, yeah, it'll leak from the bottom. Just snap it back into place and give your Therapy Llama a break.Water going everywhere? Don't turn it on until the cleaning tip is in your mouth, and then keep your mouth closed around it like you're supposed to.Seriously folks, I used one of these when I was seven years old and didn't have any of these problems.Buy one. You'll love it. I'll never be without a WaterPik again!

By any measure, this is a superior product. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.First of all, I have found that ANY decent model of oral irrigator / aqua flosser successfully removes more bits of food / debris from between my teeth than simply brushing and flossing alone. Try this yourself by brushing and flossing, and THEN using your oral irrigator/aqua flosser, particularly after a meal which leaves a lot of debris stuck to your teeth and along your gum line, and when you spit into the sink, you will see what I mean. I have only my personal experience to back up this hypothesis, but I strongly believe that persons who use an oral irrigator / aqua flosser regularly after eating will have healthier teeth and gums in the long run than persons who do not use one. I plan on living as long as the rest of my body will allow, so dental care has become a very high priority in my life. Take care of your teeth (and body) now and they will take care of you!The best thing about using an oral irrigator, perhaps, is that it takes very little additional time out of your day – 30 seconds per session is sufficient in my experience.I use my oral irrigator after each time I eat (after every meal and snack), allowing me to clean between my teeth, eliminate the buildup of would-be cavity-causing foodstuffs wedged between my teeth and along the gum line, and also avoid excessive brushing (I still brush 2-3x per day).Combine this oral irrigator with a Sonicare or similar high quality electric toothbrush and Oral B Glide dental tape (wider and more shred-resistant than standard/cheap dental floss – it will remove more debris and is less likely to make your gums bleed), and, depending on your diet, your dentist / hygienist will tell you that you are doing a PERFECT job of taking care of your teeth. I just went in for a dental cleaning – it had been a full calendar year since my last one – and my hygienist reported, highly impressed, that I had very little plaque or tartar and was doing an excellent job at caring for my teeth and gums.NOW THEN, WHY IS THIS PANASONIC MODEL SUPERIOR TO ITS COMPETITORS?I see THREE REASONS, right off the bat:FIRST: it is powered by REMOVABLE AA cell batteries. This means that the life of this oral irrigator is not limited to the lifespan of an internal rechargeable battery. Most models of oral irrigators I have seen rely on internal batteries, which are often Ni-MH or Ni-Cad, which will degrade over time. (In fact, before I bought this Panasonic model, I purchased a Waterpik brand oral irrigator from Target, about 2 years ago. I have been very pleased with this model, but by now the battery life is beginning to diminish noticeably. It still does a great job of cleaning between my teeth and along the gum line, but it is on the decline, and it also takes up twice as much space in my little medicine cabinet as compared with the Panasonic model.)That being said, I recommend using RECHARGEABLE AA cell batteries, for the savings in $$, time, electricity/energy, and waste, as compared with disposable alkaline AA cells.AND, if you are traveling internationally and don’t have access to electrical power, you can swap out batteries or find disposable alkaline AA cells in many countries.P.S. the tool-free battery compartment with O-ring stays tightly shut & waterproof, but is easy to open with a coin or washer or similar item.SECOND: this unit collapses to take up minimal space when not in use. I find this just as useful when traveling as when I am at home, because it is extremely space-efficient.THIRD: Because of the way the water intake straw is designed (it is spring-loaded and reaches to the very bottom of the water compartment), this model of oral irrigator provides a steady stream of water until the tank is essentially completely empty. Some other models of oral irrigator, such as my original Waterpik one, do not do so well in this regard. My only critique thus far is that there is no carrying case included, but for this price point (I paid $27 on Amazon for my Panasonic model in May 2016 and then as a Christmas present for a family member, I bought a second one and paid $30 on Newegg in December 2016 – both quite a bit cheaper than the Waterpik model I purchased a couple of years prior), this is a fantastic model of oral irrigator / aqua flosser, and, hey, Ziploc bags are ubiquitous, cheap, and come in a wide range of sizes. I recommend carrying it in a Ziploc bag if you are traveling between uses, to keep remaining drips of water from spilling into your suitcase / backpack. And I do like the 2 water pressure settings (low and high pressure), which my original Waterpik model also has.BATTERY LIFE: I am highly impressed: the first one month of use, “aqua flossing” after each meal and snack, I was able to get an ENTIRE MONTH out of my Panasonic oral irrigator before recharging the batteries. This is WAY BEYOND the capacity of my Waterpik model, which (as stated in the user’s manual) should be charged twice weekly if using it 2 or more times per day.So there you have it, folks! I rarely write product reviews but have been so mightily impressed by the design and features and capabilities of this Panasonic oral irrigator that I couldn’t help but share my experience with the world. Hopefully it at least inspires you to buy / ask for and begin using an aquaflosser regularly. You won’t regret it, and your teeth and gums will feel noticeably cleaner after each post-meal use.Best Regards,David S., Montana, U.S.A.
I had a older model and loved it. It worked perfectly for years. I sang its praises! The pressure was just right to effectively clean without being harsh. I had no hesitation (except for a few bad reviews) to order the same item. The updated design has 2 speeds and the previous version had one. It arrived in 2 days (YAY). It was worthless. It ran intermittently, even after I put better batteries in it. A few seconds on and a minute off. But, even when it operated, the water pressure was so low (on either speed) it was completely ineffective. It wasn't able to remove a single speck, not one. The older one got stuff out even after a thorough brushing.I don't know if this is poor mfg or poor redesign. I was very disappointed.
Update: A year and a half later and it’s still great!I've used this type of products for 20+ years. I've now had three battery-powered or rechargeable items. This is the best one I've used. It's strong and very compact. It's great for travel, which the others I've had are not. Great, great product.

If you buy this unit you MUST disconnect the inductance charger from the flosser after charge is complete (nominally 3-4 hours per the manual). I didn't and the battery failed. My bad apparently. It was initially used (to test it out) and then left on charge until my next trip. After 3 weeks, it was dead as the proverbial doornail. The outstanding folks at Waterpik Customer Service informed me that you have to disconnect the charger or the battery WILL fail! I'm guessing that type of charger can't detect when the battery is fully charged to turn itself off. It is not specified in the manual (and it should be in bold print!).. I discovered the issue 1 day after the 30 day return period to Amazon. Amazon Customer Service said call the manufacturer and gave me the number.I wish all customer service was like this when there are product issues. They transshipped a replacement product and are sending me a mailing label (on their dime) to return the non-functioning unit. No hassle, no fuss. I've used corded Waterpiks for years but got tired of packing it with my toothbrush when I travel. I always run the corded unit on max setting (about 100psi per customer service) and portable unit runs anywhere from 45-75 psi. There's a noticeable difference, but it gets the job done when you're on the road. I'm glad I didn't return the unit to Amazon.Only gave four stars since the unit charger will not automatically turn itself off. Now I just have to remember to turn it off after 4 hours (probably some slack there) and ensure it's charged before I travel. However, estimated time to fully charge is only 3-4 hours and if used daily, maybe charge it once a week. I can live with that.
My dentist recommended this product to me. I have tried water flossing one other time in my life, but it was this huge bulky system that was hard to use. This product is sooo simple and easy. Also so much smaller than those huge bulky kinds. Simple to use, and it feels amazing! It cleans so much better than regular flossing, and its quicker too. It has been so much easier to integrate into my daily routine than regular flossing. I can now tell my dentist truthfully that I do floss daily!UPDATE- still love this thing. Still works great! My dentist told me to USE WARM WATER if I am having trouble with sensitive teeth. It makes a HUGE difference!
Disappointed - I wasted my money. I really wanted to like this product, but can’t. After being accustomed to Waterpik’s electric model, this battery version, even on a full charge is simply not effective. The water stream is too weak. Additionally the way it’s designed, the water compartment is very difficult to remove, difficult to fill without making a mess, and difficult to dry out to prevent the growth of germs. I replaced it in short order with a regular Waterpik electric model.

We use waterpiks regularly for cleaning everyday for years. But they usually last about a year to a year and a half. So I am constantly buying replacements. I took a chance on this item and it paid off. It works just like my old waterpik at a much lower price. Now i just have to see if it can last a year or more.
Let me start with disclaimer that nothing can replace dentists and you should visit dentists regularly as part of your routine check-up. With that said i really needed flossing to add with my brush routine. I could never get hang of normal floss as my teeth are very tightly joined with hardly any gap.The results of this flosser have been very close to what i would get at dentist (read disclaimer above) . For first time i used there was water everywhere lolz, so trick is to use it very close to teeth/gum line and above sink so water can flow out of mouth.Always start with slow setting and increase as per your tolerance and comfort . Don't go Highest in start. The pressure of this is really good.I loved it came with storage case for all different head; so everything is at one place. The normal attachment has 3 different color so 3 ppl can use it daily. I still haven't used other attachments.Sizewise its not super huge which i was scared of, as i didn't want it to clutter the countertop space. Specially good if living in small apartment. Checkout its size side by side to my brush.I added a before and after pics, there was lil bit of blood where plaque was removed (just like at dentist's), really happy to see it has that kind of power. Its totally value for money with power settings, attachments and results. Totally recommend it!
I bought this flosser a few weeks ago. My old Waterpik entirely gave out. This new one I like much much better, it cleans my gums & teeth way more fully. I use the round brush (my favorite), gum cleaner(very helpful), and regular pic. I am pleased with my purchase.
